San Diego Author Dies Three Times. Writes Book to Help Save Others.

September is National Recovery Month, sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

National Recovery Month encourages the prevention and treatment of mental and/or substance use disorders, and celebrates people in recovery. SAMHSA hopes to increase awareness of these issues through intensive media outreach.

To support this national effort, a San Diego author has chosen September 15, 2015 as the official release date of a unique new guide to addiction and recovery.

Before Keith Angelin became a nationally certified substance abuse therapist, interventionist and author
of the new book AT HOME RECOVERY HANDBOOK: Recover From Alcohol and Drug Addiction in 28-
days At Home! (available on www.Amazon.com), he was “hopelessly” addicted to drugs and alcohol.
Addiction dominated his life for a decade. It brought to an end what was once a prosperous career in
the health and nutrition industry. Once, he was president of his own multi-million dollar company, and
enjoyed a business relationship with one of the most iconic actors in Hollywood. Then, he was dead.
Says Mr. Angelin. “I was blindsided. I was very, very good at being an addict. I went from having
everything, to having absolutely nothing. I became penniless and divorced. I lost the house to
foreclosure, then squatted in my own empty home without electricity or water. I was defibrillated at the
hospital ER on three different occasions. I tried rehab twice, and watched a best friend relapse and die
horribly from alcoholism. Yet, I could not stop using. How does that happen to an intelligent person?!”

With an “unsolicited” intervention from local law enforcement, Angelin finally hit “bottom” on October
21, 2008. He recounts how his pride was “crushed” that day: “Putting my hands in the air and saying I’m
done… I’m exhausted… I surrender… lifted the blinders from my eyes. But, I had no plan.” He continues:
“People tell you ‘Go to rehab…. Go to rehab…’, or, ‘Go to an A.A. meeting…’ as if going to some place
makes everything all better. But addiction is not clean-cut like that. Insanity doesn’t obey rules. It just
wants to kill you.” According to Angelin: “I was forty-eight years old. Nobody gave me a chance in hell to
recover.”

Yet, he recovered on his own. Along the way, he became an expert on addiction and recovery.
Everything he learned is available in his new addiction-defeating battle plan called: AT HOME RECOVERY
HANDBOOK: Recover From Alcohol and Drug Addiction in 28-days At Home! According to Angelin, the
book is a game-changer: “Statistics show that only 16% of people actually receive the treatment they
need for addiction. Not everyone has the time, money or insurance coverage. Some are too ashamed or
rebellious. Then there are those who enter a program, but relapse and are kicked out.”

AT HOME RECOVERY HANDBOOK is designed for anyone who wants to recover, but cannot go away somewhere to do it. Because it is a fully contained program that can be used anywhere, it is also the perfect tool for: healthcare professionals, clinics, treatment programs, hospitals, insurance companies, sponsors and families in crisis.

AT HOME RECOVERY HANDBOOK focuses on the process of recovery, not where it takes place. “The
secret to recovering in 28-days at home…” says Angelin, “…is drawing from all the different treatment
sources that work, creating a mash-up of schooling, skills and support. It is exactly what program
directors do at expensive brick and mortar treatment facilities.” Twenty-eight days of interactive
assignments explore the same topics, structured exactly as you would experience it there.
But, none of this would matter if the material didn’t grab the reader’s attention. AT HOME RECOVERY
HANDBOOK is the only program in the crowded marketplace that is authored by an expert on addiction,
a recovering addict and a professional creative writer. “I have twenty-years of experience turning
complicated topics into words that resonate and generate an immediate response”, says the author.

Regardless of a person’s finances, free time or faith in their ability to change, he or she can take
advantage of a professional, comprehensive treatment protocol. Says Angelin: “I made the mistakes, so
you don’t have to. I spent years learning, so you don’t have to. I spend all my time counseling and
intervening on the worst of situations, so you don’t have to be one of them. Not anymore.”
