If you see fireworks and smoke over San Diego Bay this week, it is only a product of Hollywood.
A production crew from the TNT action series “The Last Ship” will film scenes in San Diego through Friday, Navy officials said Monday.
TV crews will use San Diego Naval Base and the Navy hospital ship Mercy as a backdrop for the show’s upcoming second season.
Two events that might attract the most attention will be Wednesday and Friday.
On Wednesday, the Mercy will be the scene of minor pyrotechnics, and red smoke will emit from the ship. On Friday, a stuntman will jump from the ship into the bay.
Throughout the week, the production crew will be working with small boat, divers, special effects and simulated weapons.
“The Last Ship” is a show about a fictional Navy destroyer that has to work solo following a medical epidemic.
